We are located in Harlem, so our events take place mostly uptown.

In 2009, I was new to the area and wanted to create a community. I lived in Germany and speak fairly fluent German. I was no longer using the language professionally and missed the interaction. I decided to form a group of German speakers in the Fair Lawn, Ridgewood and surrounding areas, to meet once every month or so, on a weekday evening. I welcome the opportunity to meet like-minded people, both native and non-native speakers. We do in fact speak German when we meet, so please be prepared.

We ( Renate & Maria ) find ourselves challenged to maintain an environment that would encourage our kids to learn the German language and culture. Like many in the area, we live far from family that could provide more frequent interactions in German. Since our partners are English speaking, we'd like to create opportunities for our kids to experience German not only through interacting with us moms but also with others. Hence, we would love to build supporting networks with other mommies (or dad …
